Overview

Lifestyle ("we", "us") operates this website and the tools available through it. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Lifestyle you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

  • Account information. When you sign up we collect your name, email, and a hashed password (or the identifier from your single-sign-on provider). Authentication is handled by a trusted third-party provider on our behalf.
  • Tool data. Anything you enter into a Lifestyle tool — budget transactions, recurring items, settings — is stored in our database so the tool can show it back to you. This data is scoped to your account and never shared with other users.
  • Bank connection data (Pro). If you choose to connect a bank account, we receive your transactions and basic account details (institution, account name, type, and the last four digits) through our data partner Plaid. We never see or store your bank username or password — see “Bank connections” below.
  • Usage data. Standard server logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamps) for security and basic analytics.
  • Cookies. Session cookies for authentication and preferences. Third-party services we use may set their own cookies — see below.

How we use information

We use the information we collect to operate the service, keep your account secure, respond to support requests, and improve Lifestyle over time. We do not sell your personal information.

Third-party services

Lifestyle relies on a small number of carefully selected third-party providers to operate the service — including authentication, database and storage, application hosting, transactional email, AI features for Pro users, and advertising on the Free tier. Each provider only receives the data necessary for its role and is bound by its own privacy and data-handling terms. We do not sell your personal information, and AI conversation content is only sent to providers when needed to generate a reply.

Bank connections

Pro members can connect bank accounts to the Budget tool through Plaid, a service that links your financial institution to apps you choose. You authenticate directly with your bank, so your bank credentials are never sent to or stored by Lifestyle. Through Plaid we receive your transaction history and basic account details, which we use solely to power your own budget. This access is read-only: Lifestyle can view your transactions but cannot move money, make payments, or transfer funds. We do not sell your financial data, share it with third parties for their own purposes, or use it for advertising. By connecting an account you also agree to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy.

You can disconnect a bank at any time from the Budget tool's Import page. Disconnecting immediately revokes our access at Plaid; transactions already imported remain in your ledger (they are your data) until you delete them or your account. Connections are also revoked automatically if your Pro subscription ends or your account is deleted.

Security

We protect your information with industry-standard safeguards. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS, and data stored in our database is encrypted at rest. Sensitive credentials, including the access tokens that let us retrieve your bank transactions, are additionally encrypted at the application layer and are reachable only by secure server-side systems, never your browser. Access to your data is restricted to your own account. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit who and what can access it.

Advertising and cookies

Free-tier accounts and anonymous visitors see advertisements served by third-party advertising partners (including Google). These partners use cookies and similar technologies — including device identifiers — to serve and measure ads, and may show you ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Each partner's use of your information is governed by its own privacy policy.

You have choices about personalized advertising:

Where required by law (for example, in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland), we ask for your consent before non-essential advertising and analytics cookies are set, and we honor that choice. Upgrading to the Pro tier removes all advertising.

Your choices

  • You can update your profile information at any time from Settings.
  • You can request export or deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us at hello@ourlifestyle.app.
  • Most browsers let you block or clear cookies. Doing so may prevent you from staying signed in.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. Once you delete your account we remove your data from production systems within 30 days; backup copies are purged on the normal backup rotation.

Children

Lifestyle is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change. Material changes will be communicated by email or an in-app notice.
